USDA doesn’t have a magic “list” as the program is actually for any move in condition single-family home located in a USDA approved area. The important thing is not who is selling the home, but where the home is located.
The home purchased must be located in a designated Rural eligible area according to the USDA property eligibility map. Buyers can see the latest 2022 USDA eligibility map here. Prospective homebuyers can input the property address and search to see if the property is “eligible” or “ineligible”
In addition, you can zoom out to see the shaded ineligible areas as a whole. Sometimes “less is better” when using the search function of the map. If you receive an “invalid” error when searching a property address, try again without the city name – only input the street number, address and zip code. The latest Rural Housing eligibility map should stay in place through 2022.
